The PCA Cancer Focused Community Outreach Fund Event

This year the Peninsula Cancer Alliance have been working with the Voluntary Sector Forum (Cornwall) and the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (Devon) to develop a community outreach fund with a focus on receiving bids which would implement innovative engagement activities that increase awareness of signs and symptoms in cancer and increase the education and uptake of cancer screening. The funding was intended to address health inequalities in these communities and encourage innovative and targeted approaches to meet the need of our communities in Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Any community group based in Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly and serving the population were eligible to apply for the funding as long as they could attribute the work to providing outcomes for:

Increased awareness in communities of signs and symptoms in cancer for:

  • Lung
  • Skin
  • Cervical
  • Bowel

or

Improve cancer screening knowledge, coverage among specific communities through activities such as screening workshops, outreach events and communications. The projects could cover any of the below cancer screening programmes:

  • Breast
  • Cervical
  • Bowel

Event Information

On Thursday 22nd May 2025 we are holding an event at China Fleet Country Club in Saltash to celebrate the impact of these efforts. We will be highlighting the stories of those who have benefited and the dedicated groups making a difference. We will also be conducting some round table discussions around where we take this work forward and the future impacts we can make. This event will bring together various organisations and groups over Devon and Cornwall so that we can strategise and plan future inequalities-based work as a Peninsula.

The event will begin at 10am and run until 2pm and the agenda will be circulated closer to the event.

To register your attendance at the event, please follow the link or email the team at peninsula.ca@nhs.net for the registration link or to ask any questions.

We are not limiting numbers for each organisation, but we do ask that you register individually for catering purposes.
