Peninsula Cancer Alliance Sleep Workshop is a Finalist for the Penna 2024 Awards.

Over the last year the Peninsula Cancer Alliance (PCA) used the Cancer Quality of Life Survey to identify difficulty sleeping as  a quality of life priority for local intervention from the recently launched Cancer Data Dashboard. It was clear from the data that this was a symptom reported by all cancer types (25.1%). By collaborating with The Mustard Tree Cancer Support Centre, and colleagues in the Charity Sector across the Cancer Alliance we were able to deliver a workshop model approach to capture experience and provide health wellbeing information and support to patients around sleep. The PCA Sleep event (in collaboration with The Mustard tree) was attended by 61 patients and carers from across Devon and Cornwall and further information about the what was covered on the day can be found by watching our videos on Sleep & Insomnia – Exercise, Nutrition & Sound and Sleep & Insomnia – Sleep Physiologist.

A write up of the work undertaken around sleep this year across the Peninsula, as well as some future recommendations can be found here.

The Alliance is very proud of the work undertaken this year and is glad it has been recognised under the Cancer Experience of Care Award by Penna 2024.

Project Leads Beth Kingshott and Miranda Benney want to thank all the patients, carers , speakers  and all others involved who took the time to attend and share their experiences with them.

The live event will take place on Thursday 3rd  October 2024 and we wish all the team who are attending luck.
