The Value of Patient Stories

Patient Stories for Service Improvement

Patient Stories are incredibly powerful service improvement tools. We use Patient Stories when considering changes to cancer pathways and when training our staff.

The Peninsula Cancer Alliance, through working with the Rare and Less Common Cancer's (RLCC) charity Cancer 52 has obtained permission to share a number of patient stories from patients with RLCC. These can be accessed here.

If you would like to tell us your own personal story that you think our service providers and commissioners, could learn from, there are several ways you could tell us your story:

  1. By contacting our Patient & Public Engagement Lead via lisa.martin3@nhs.net who can arrange for your story to be recorded.
  2. By joining one of our Site-Specific Groups.
  3. By recording your own story, which you can receive help with from either the Patient & Public Engagement Lead or going through Macmillan Cancer Support’s digital storytelling workshops. Contact dicharlton@macmillan.org.uk
