When you have received an invitation

The programme has identified you, using the GP data, as a person who is eligible for a Lung Cancer Screening invite. Those who are eligible have the opportunity to be assessed by a nurse to see if they may be at higher risk. Anyone who is seen as high risk can then take advantage of a low dose CT scan to find out if their lungs are healthy.

You might have a CT scan in a mobile van.

A CT scan is a test that uses x-rays and a computer to create detailed pictures of the inside of your body. It takes pictures from different angles. The computer puts them together to make a 3-dimensional (3D) image.

You’re awake during the scan and it’s over quickly.

Getting your results

You will hear from the Lung Cancer Screening team within 4 weeks about the results of your CT scan. They will also give you information about what happens next.
